British identity is protected in the GFA and the language of Human Rights applies to Irish Brits as to everyone.
In the event of a United Ireland, or even before it, we could see public bodies forced to change any emerging (NI) or historical (ROI) discriminatory anti-Britishness throu the courts even running counter to popular feeling within the island wide nationalist community.
Sometimes the Human Rights maxim, ‘there is no right not be be offended’ seems to be semi-suspended in this part of the world.
With nationalist negative reaction to past injustices often seeming to take precedence over a modern citizen’s right to express a positive British identity, this may well be one of the issues in the coming years.
